WENDELL PRATER, 69 years of age of the Paw Paw section of Hurley, VA, went to be with the Lord, Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Troy and Ethel Hunt Prater. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Kelsa Freewill Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was Owner/Operator of Prater Trucking.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3-Sisters: Viola Prater, Judy Prater and Virginia Spencer; and 3-Brothers: James Prater, Arnold Prater and Tolbert Prater.

 

He is survived by his wife, Mary Estep Prater, Hurley, VA, Mother-in-Law: Meda Jean Estep, Hurley, VA, 1-Daughter: Tina and husband Jay Mason, Bassett, VA, 1-Son: James (Jamie) Wendell Prater, Abingdon, VA, 2-Sisters: Beatrice Ellis, Salem, VA, Autom Mayo, Pikeville, KY, 1-Brother: Ulvert and wife Bonnie Prater, Hurley, VA, Special Niece: Trina Prater, Abingdon, VA

 

Also, survived by 3-Grandchildren: Logan Mason, Hannah Mason and Abigail Prater; Several Brothers & Sisters-in-Law; 24-Nieces and Nephews.

 

Funeral Services for WENDELL PRATER will be conducted Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Kenneth Jackson, Ronnie Hurley and Irvin Hurley officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

 

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Monday evening at 6:00 P.M. with a song service at 7:00 P.M.
