TIVIS CARSON “MARCUS” BOYD, 89 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Clinch Valley Medical Center, Richlands, VA, after a long illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Columbus Perry and Mary Elizabeth Bowman Boyd. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was a retired Coal Miner and Coal Truck Driver.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Eva C. Boyd Ward; 1-Grandson: Christopher S. Ward; 4-Sisters: Ida Boyd, Lillie Walsie Coleman, Margaret (Margie) Belcher and Zettie Woods; 7-Brothers: James H. Boyd, Glen Boyd, William Boyd, Lawrence Boyd, Roland Boyd, Claude Boyd and Fred Boyd.

He is survived by 2-Daughters: Eula Ann Bostic, Richlands, VA, Letha Arlene (Howard) Owens, Bluefield, VA, 1-Son: Gurvis Boyd, Grundy, VA, 1-Sister: Carrie Branham, Florida, 3-Granddaughters: Rebecca Boyd, Roanoke, VA, Sarah Boyd, West Palm Beach, FL, Lauren J. Owens, Bluefield, VA

Funeral Services for TIVIS CARSON “MARCUS” BOYD will be conducted Friday, November 1, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Howard Owens officiating with cremation to follow.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday morning at 10:00 A.M. to await the funeral hour at 1:00 P.M.
