THELMA STACY BLANKENSHIP, 86 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 at her home following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Mollie Stacy. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of New Zion Freewill Baptist Church. Thelma loved life and was an elegant, classy lady. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Blankenship was preceded in death by her husband, Miles Blankenship, June 1, 2009.

She is survived by 3-Daughters: Beulah and husband Larry Crouse, Grundy, VA, Marie Blankenship, Grundy, VA, Brenda and husband Tom Sykes, Orlando, FL, 3-Grandchildren: Natane and husband Edward Nitto, Oviedo, FL, Michael and wife Dawn Crouse, Knoxville, TN, Todd and wife Virginia Sykes, Orlando, FL, 5-Great-Grandchildren: Elizabeth Crouse, Knoxville, TN, James Crouse, Knoxville, TN, Miles Crouse, Knoxville, TN, Connor Sykes, Orlando, FL, Joseph Nitto, Oviedo, FL

Also, survived by Special Nephew: Vergus Blankenship.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3-Sisters: Mazie Charles, Rosie Charles, Brizie Potter and 1-Infant Sister; 5-Brothers: Oliver Stacy, Mack Stacy, Auldie Stacy, Plez Stacy and Cleve Stacy.

Funeral Services to celebrate the life of THELMA STACY BLANKENSHIP will be conducted Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. E.C. Honaker and Curtis Crouse officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Michael Crouse, James Crouse, Joseph Hall, Andrew Quinley, Ray Blankenship, Kenny Ray Charles, Junior Blankenship, Stewart Charles and Sonny Blankenship.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Faye Lester, Ella Mae King, Diedra King, Sherry Blankenship, Joanne Charles, Lucille Charles, Mary Quinley, Lois Griffey, Jennifer Hensley and the Employees of Special Care Hospice.
