THELMA LOIS LESTER LOONEY, 77 years of age went to be with the Lord Monday July 16, 2012 at Radford, VA following an extended illness.  Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Paris and Thirza Hazel Stiltner Lester.  She was a homemaker, formerly worked in Retail Sales in the House of Fashions and Gentlemen’s Quarters and also worked as a waitress at the Temple Motel.  She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Looney is preceded in death by her husband Roy Frenchman Looney – January 13, 1971.

Mrs. Looney is survived by: 1-Daughter: Barbara Gay Looney and fiance’ Brett, Raven, VA.,  2-Sons: Jeffrey Douglas and wife Vanessa Looney, Christiansburg, VA.,  Danny Lee and wife Carol Sue Looney, Big Rock, VA.,  7-Sisters:      Nelhama Catherine Jackson, St. Clair Shores, MI., Irene and husband Daniel Perkins, Jonesville, VA, Hester Neumann,  Warren, MI, Patty Stiltner, Warren, MI., Marilyn Gail Lester, Harriman, TN., Shirley and husband Eugene Mercer,        Wadsworth, OH., Charlene and husband Rafael Hernandez, Clarkston, MI.,  3-Brothers: Robert H. Lester,  Belville, MI., Elbert and wife Debbie Lester,  Big Rock, VA., Paris and wife Connie Lester, Jr,. Paintlick, VA.

She is also survived by grandchildren: Angela Renea Ashby and fiance’ Brandon Dotson, Abingdon, VA., Marta Nicole Farmer Yellin and husband Jeremy of Livingston, Montana, Jared Cane Looney and wife Kelli of Christiansburg, VA., Danny Lee Looney II of Big Rock, Va., Canaan Luke Looney of Christiansburg, VA., Kyleigh Paris Looney of Christiansburg and great grandson: Benjamin A.Yellin of Livingston, Montana. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a former brother-in-law: Thomas Mitchell, CA.  

She was preceded in death by -3 Brothers: Thomas David Lester, Ronnie Lee Lester and Ernest Lester and a former sister-in-law: Phyllis Lester and 3- brother-in-laws: Allen Neumann, Marvin Jackson and Donald Stiltner. 

Funeral Services for THELMA LOIS LESTER LOONEY will be conducted on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Big Rock Church of Christ with Evg. Terry Cantrell and Evg. Dennis Wimmer and Rev. Danny Hess officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Big Rock Church of Christ after 6 P.M. Thursday with services at 7 P.M.

Active pallbearers will be grandsons and grandson–in-law.

Honorary pallbearers will be Staff of Preferred Home Health, Staff of Radford Health and Rehabilitation and UVA Doctors Modesitt, Krupskie, Moorman.
