RUTH IRENE BLACKBURN MAYNARD, 82 years of age of the Upper Mill Branch section of Grundy, VA, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Grundy, VA, following an extended illness. Born in Pike County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Andy Jackson and Nolekea Meadows Blackburn. She was a resident of Buchanan County most of her life and was a member of the Dry Fork Primitive Baptist Church where she was secretary and treasurer for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker and former grocery store clerk for Henson’s Grocery at Slate Creek.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ferrell Maynard; her daughter: Connie Sue Barnett, March 16, 2013; 2-Sisters: an infant and Madeline Crandell; 6-Brothers: 2-infants, Gerald, Ernest, Charles and Edgar Blackburn.

She is survived by 2-Sons: Larry Phillip Maynard, Lubbock, TX, Rev. Andy Ferrell (Linda Kay) Maynard, Grundy, VA, 6-Grandchildren: Gregory Scott (Bonnie) Barnett, Grundy, VA, Christopher William (Sarah) Barnett, Grundy, VA, Cindy Lea (Robert) Hylton, Summerville, SC, Karrie Lynn (Craig) Meadows, Nashville, TN, Amy Marie Shelton, Florence, SC, Eric Scott (Amber) Maynard, Jonesborough, TN, 2-Brothers: Joe (Nancy) Blackburn, Hardy, KY, Burl (Ruth) Blackburn, Hurricane, WV

Also, survived by 10-Great-Grandchildren.

Funeral Services for RUTH IRENE BLACKBURN MAYNARD will be conducted Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Elders: Brian Moore, Shawn Dotson, Mike Smith and Jeff Dotson officiating with burial to follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Eric Scott Maynard, Craig Meadows, Greg Barnett, Chris Barnett, Tommy Barnett and Brandon Barnett.
