RUBY FIELDS CLINE,
88 years of age of Tampa, FL, formerly of Brevard, NC, passed away Saturday,
March 2, 2013 at the Sun City Center Hospice House, Ruskin, FL, following an
extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late
George Washington and Gracie McClanahan Fields. She was a resident of
Buchanan County many years prior to moving to North Carolina and was a
member of the Brevard Church of Christ, Brevard, NC, and the Bay Area Church
of Christ, Tampa, FL. She attended Mountain Mission School where she was
baptized and graduated Valedictorian of her class.
Mrs. Cline was a
retired school teacher having taught math at Grundy High School (1945-1946),
and taught math and science at Brevard High School, Brevard, NC, in the late
1960s. Ruby was a very active Girl Scout leader and volunteer, and was the
recipient of the Girl Scout Saint’s Badge. She was a devoted wife, loving
mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker.
In addition to
her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Kent Cline,
January 7, 2005; 3-Sisters: Edith Fern Yuhasz, Faye Blankenship and Elsie
Cline; and 1-Brother: Dorsey Fields.
She is survived
by 1-Daughter: Christine (Daniel) Payne, Concord, NC, 1-Son: George (Pamela)
Cline, Valrico, FL, 1-Sister: Opal M. Belcher, Ft. Myers, FL
Also, survived
by 6-Grandchildren: Michael (Meghan) Payne, Ben (Melody) Cline, Matthew
Cline, Patricia Payne, Josh Cline and Anna Cline; 3-Great-Grandchildren:
Nicodemis Cline, Brecken Payne and Ryann Kate Payne.
Funeral Services for
RUBY FIELDS CLINE will be
conducted Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Brevard Church of
Christ, Brevard, NC, with Graveside Rites, Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 11:00
A.M. at the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA, with Minister:
Daniel Payne officiating with burial to follow.
