ROGER LEE GILBERT, SR., 66 years of age of Clarksville, TN, formerly of Tazewell County, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the North Crest Medical Center, Springfield, TN, following an extended illness. Born in Tazewell County, he was the son of the late Henry Allen “Buck” and Lucy Goodman Gilbert. He was a resident of Tazewell County many years and was of the Baptist Faith. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and retired from the United States Army after serving 22-years with two tours in Vietnam, one tour in Korea and two tours in Germany.

Mr. Gilbert is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bernice Childress Gilbert, Clarksville, TN, 1-Daughter: Vanessa and husband Klinton Jeffery, Clarksville, TN, 1-Son: Roger Lee Gilbert, II, Clarksville, TN,

2-Sisters: Joan Fields, Gloucester, VA, Barbara Brantley.                       

Also, survived by 7-Grandchildren: Meghan Gilbert, Madyson Gilbert, Hayley Jeffery, Roger Gilbert III, Ian Jeffery, Seth Jeffery and Phillip Shelton.

He was preceded in death by 1-Sister: Patricia Edwards.

Funeral Services for ROGER LEE GILBERT, SR. will be conducted Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Scott Childress and Jeffery Arnold officiating with burial to follow in the Childress-Viers Cemetery, North Tazewell, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Members of the Fort Lee Virginia Military Detail.

Full Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by members of the Fort Lee Virginia Military Detail.
