PHILLIP THOMAS “TOM” OWENS, 66 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at his home. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Burton Osborne Owens and Edith May Dales Owens. He was a resident of Buchanan County many years, a retired steel worker and was former owner of Owens Construction in Virginia Beach for over 30-years. He was also a former member and officer of the Knights of Pythias, Norfolk, VA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Beatrice Coleman Owens; 1-Sister: Sharon Kay Owens; 2-Brothers: Danny Owens and Edsel Dean Owens; and 1-Nephew: Jerry Owens, Jr.

He is survived by 1-Sister: Darlene (Scott) Mullins, Rosedale, VA, 3-Brothers: Melvin Owens, Poplar Creek, VA, Jerry Owens, Berwick, PA, Eugene (Tena) Owens, Hoot Owl, VA

Also, survived by 5-Nieces: Briana Owens, Jessica Owens, Lindsey Mullins, Jordan Owens and Tuesday Brown.

Funeral Services for PHILLIP THOMAS “TOM” OWENS will be conducted Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wade Endicott officiating with burial to follow in the Owens Family Cemetery on Poplar Creek, near Grundy, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday evening at 6:00 P.M.
