MELISSA SUE MCCLANAHAN, 47 years of age of the Poplar Creek section of Grundy, VA, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013. Born in Grundy, VA, she was the daughter of Betty Sue Meadows Charles, Prater, VA, and the late Delbert Charles, Sr. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was of the Christian faith. Melissa was a 1983 graduate of Grundy Senior High School and graduated from Southwest Virginia Community College in 1998. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and was a disabled registered nurse.

She is survived by her husband, Johnny P. McClanahan, Grundy, VA, her mother, Betty Sue Meadows Charles, Prater, VA, Her Daughter: Ashley (Robert Shane) Rice, Grundy, VA, Her Son: Justin (Brittany) McClanahan, Hurley, VA, 1-Sister: Ingrid Charles (Chris) Stiltner, Vansant, VA, 3-Brothers: Delbert (Sarah) Charles, Jr., Prater, VA, Allen (Tammy) Charles, Prater, VA, Robbie (Lisa) Charles, Prater, VA, Paternal Grandmother: Sarah Meadows, Ohio

Also, survived by 3-Grandchildren: Emma Rice, Aubrey Rice and Jacob McClanahan; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Services for MELISSA SUE MCCLANAHAN will be conducted Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with cremation to follow.
