LONA MURVILE McCLANAHAN CLEVINGER, 97 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013 at her home following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late George Washington McClanahan and Lucy Delphia Stiltner McClanahan. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church #2 and an Old Regular Baptist Member since October 1939. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandchildren and was a wonderful homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer R. Clevinger; 1-Daughter: Fannie Pearl Clevinger; 1-Son: James Edison Clevinger; 1-Grandson: Michael Newberry; 2-Sisters: Alice Clevinger and Ethel Clevinger; 5-Brothers: Arthur McClanahan, Glenn McClanahan, Keenis McClanahan, Benton McClanahan, Claudia McClanahan; 5-Half-Sisters: Helen Darnell, Mary Rose, Myrtle Ratliff, Josie Colley, Thelma Colley; and 2-Half-Brothers: Johnny McClanahan and Lonnie McClanahan.

She is survived by 1-Daughter: Betty R. (Jessie W.) Newberry, Grundy, VA, 1-Half-Sister: Eura Stiltner, Gautier, MS, 3-Grandchildren: Jessie Clevinger, Bristol, VA, Randy (Brenda) Newberry, Rutledge, TN, Rita (Paul) Estes, Chattanooga, TN, 6-Great-Grandchildren: Matthew (Aja) Newberry, Dandridge, TN, Shannon (Meranda) Newberry, Grundy, VA, Andrew Newberry, Dandridge, TN, Holly (Chris) Nickels, Grundy, VA, Kelly Newberry, Grundy, VA, Sheena (Brandon) Massey, Chattanooga, TN

Also, survived by 5-Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Funeral Services for LONA MURVILE McCLANAHAN CLEVINGER will be conducted Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Elders: Roger Coleman, Toy Looney, Mark Justus and Larry Puckett officiating with burial to follow in the Stiltner Cemetery on Poplar Creek, Grundy, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
