LEON RATLIFF,
69 years of age of Kernersville, NC, formerly of
Buchanan County, passed away Monday, August 27, 2012 at the Valley Health
Care Center, Chilhowie, VA, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan
County, he was the son of the late Bascome and Glady Stiltner Ratliff. He
was a resident of Buchanan County most of his life and was a member of
Harman Freewill Baptist Church. Leon served in the United States Army in the
82nd Airborne Division. He was a devoted husband, loving father,
grandfather and was Owner/Operator of Leon’s Welding Service.
Mr. Ratliff is
survived by his wife, Patricia Sliger Ratliff, Kernersville, NC, 1-Son:
James Lance Ratliff, Winston Salem, NC,
1-Step-Son: Blake
Edward Mullins, Detroit, MI, 3-Sisters: Ola Ratliff, Abingdon, VA, Vivian
and husband Joe Stiltner, Grundy, VA, Helen and husband Tom Ferguson,
Lakeland, FL, 1-Grandson: Maxwell Blake Mullins, Detroit, MI
He was preceded
in death by 1-Sister: Loretta Clevinger and 2-Brothers: Lee Allen Ratliff
and Everett Ratliff.
Funeral Services for
LEON RATLIFF will be conducted
Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel
with Revs. Eddie Wilson and Ronnie Sliger officiating with burial to follow
in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.
Friends may call
at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with a song
service at 7:00 P.M.
Active
Pallbearers will be Joe Stiltner, Tom Ferguson, Donnie Phillips, J.D.
Sliger, Donnie Ratliff and Ronnie Stiltner.
Honorary
Pallbearers will be the Men of the Harman Freewill Baptist Church.
Full Military
Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by Members of John Ratliff Post No.
164 of the American Legion.
