LENA BEA KEEN, 87 years of age of Bristol, VA formerly of the Royal City Section of Grundy, VA, went to be with our Lord, Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, TN, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Stewart and Pearl Nichols Hagy. She was a homemaker and was employed at Grundy National Bank as the head teller for many years. Mrs. Keen was a member of the North Bristol Baptist Church, the Bristol Senior Show Choir, and was a former member of Grundy Baptist Church and Big Prater Baptist Church. She was the first member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Grundy Volunteer Fire Department.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Luther Keen; 1-Sister: Rosalee Smith and by 2-Brothers: Ralph D. Hagy and James S. Hagy.

 

She is survived by 1-Son: Phillip (wife Vicky) Keen, Bristol, TN, 1-Step-Granddaughter: Rachel (husband Jeff) Barnett, Abingdon, VA, 1-Step-Grandson: Travis Melvin, Bristol TN, 1-Step-Great-Granddaughter (the apple of her eye): Ally Barnett, 2-Sisters: Bess Koehn, Rockford, IL, Bernice Conner, Charlottesville, VA, 1-Brother: Jerry (wife Juanita) Hagy, Inman, SC, Many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

 

Funeral Services for LENA BEA KEEN will be conducted Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Sherrell Dunn, Alan Moor and Donald Tittle officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

 

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 6:00 P.M. with services Wednesday evening at 7:00 P.M.

 

Active Pallbearers will be Jerry Crane, Mark Sourbeer, Phil Barker, David Maples, Ursel  Arms, Chris Stapleton, Leon Crane, J.P. Hagy and Danny Hill.

 

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jay Rife, Alonzo Hardy, Joe Breeding, Sam Breeding, Jody Breeding, Jeff Chaney & Past and Present Deacons of Grundy Baptist Church.
