JOSEPH JACK McCLANAHAN, of the Home Creek Section of Grundy, VA, passed away at his home following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary McClanahan. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Church of Christ. Jack was a member of Sandy Valley Lodge No. 17 AF&AM and a Shriner. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was a Retired State Mine Inspector and was Founder/Owner of McClanahan Cable Co.

Mr. McClanahan is survived by his loving wife, Gladys Rife McClanahan, Grundy, VA, 2-Daughters: Sandra (Sue) and husband Bobby Cook, Grundy, VA, Sherry and husband Greg Fletcher, Grundy, VA, 2-Sisters: Hettie Duty, Lexington, KY, Lucille Edwards, Hurley, VA

 

Also, survived by 3-Grandchildren: Joseph Brent Leonard Cook and fiancé Audrey Meriner, Tara Cook Williams and Sarah and husband Michael Broyles; 4-Great-Grandchildren: Gavin Bagwell, Blake Broyles, Katie Williams and Sidney Williams.

 

He was preceded in death by 2-Sisters and 3-Brothers.

 

Funeral Services for JOSEPH JACK McCLANAHAN will be conducted Monday, August 13, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Ancil Childress and Tim Brown officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

 

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Sunday evening at 6:00 P.M.

 

Active Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hess, Gary Hughes, Bobby Cook, Greg Fletcher, Scotty Williams, Johnny Fletcher, Michael Broyles and Joseph Brent Leonard Cook.

 

Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul Fletcher, L.C. Ferrell, Billy Tester, Staff of Legacy Hospice, Dr. Watson and Nurses of the 6th Floor Cardiac Unit of Pikeville Medical Center.
