JERRY CLAYTON DEEL, 69 years of age of Maxie, VA, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Wellmont-Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of Elaine Bartley Deel, Grundy, VA, and the late Julius Deel. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and of the Baptist Faith. He was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather and a retired Coal Miner. Jerry loved talking about working in Coal Mining and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an infant sister.

Mr. Deel is survived by his loving wife, Dixie McClanahan Deel, Maxie, VA, his mother, Elaine Bartley Deel, Grundy, VA,

2-Daughters: Kimberly (husband Darrell) Edenfield, Kite, GA, Amber (fiancé Marshall Blankenship) Price, Whitewood, VA,

1-Step-Son: Joshua (wife Jessica) Justus, Max Meadows, VA, 2-Sisters: Carol (husband Douglas) Potter, Vansant, VA, Peggy (husband Terry) Lester, Pounding Mill, VA,  2-Brothers: Darrel (wife Pat) Deel, Grundy, VA, Larry (wife Vicki) Deel, Cocoa, FL

Also, survived by 5-Grandchildren: Jackson Edenfield, Jillian Edenfield, Jacob Edenfield, Jayden Price and Julianna Justus.

Funeral Services for JERRY CLAYTON DEEL will be conducted Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Elders: Roger Coleman, Larry Puckett, James Wright and Toy Looney officiating with entombment to follow in Mountain Rest Mausoleum, Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Darrell Edenfield, Jackson Edenfield, Conrad Cochran, Charlie Cochran, Josh Justus, Bob Deel, Terry Lester and Marshall Blankenship.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott Keene, Amos Bartley and CPL Josh Deel.
