HARVEY HORNE, 80 years of age of Big Branch Rd., Oakwood, VA, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Howard and Ocie Hinkles Horne. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Big Branch Church of Christ. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was a mechanic for Gilbert Lumber Co., Gilbert, WV. Harvey served in the United States Navy and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Keen Horne, May 6, 2009; and 1-Infant Brother.

Mr. Horne is survived by 4-Daughters: Jo Ann Horne, Dismal Rt., Oakwood, VA, Shelby Horne, Dismal Rt., Oakwood, VA, Shirley Horne, Dismal Rt., Oakwood, VA, Betty (Allen) Shrader, Dismal Rt., Oakwood, VA, 2-Sons: Nelson Leon (Linda) Horne, Dismal Rt., Oakwood, VA, Billy Ray Horne, Dismal Rt., Oakwood, VA, 4-Grandchildren: Leona Horne (Thomas) Laverty, Monroe, MI, Billy Lee (Susan) Horne Jr., Keen Mountain, VA, Lee Anna Horne, Dismal Rt., Oakwood, VA, Patrick Ray Horne, Dismal Rt., Oakwood, VA

Also, survived by 3-Great-Grandchildren: Elizabeth Horne, Sarah Beth Horne and William “Liam” August Laverty; Special Brother: Unice Davis, Rosedale, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for HARVEY HORNE will be conducted Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Big Branch Church of Christ, Dismal Rt., Oakwood, VA, with Evg. Stanley Smith officiating with burial to follow in the Hinkle Cemetery on Upper Big Branch, Dismal Rt., Oakwood, VA.

Friends may call at the Big Branch Church of Christ Tuesday afternoon at 6:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Full Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by Members of Child’s Gentry Post No. 7360 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
