ELSIE
DEEL CLEVINGER JUSTUS,
92 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the
Mt. View Health Care Center, Elkhorn City, Kentucky following an extended
illness. Born in Buchanan
County, she was the daughter of the late Wash and Lydia Fuller Deel.
She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of
Harman Memorial Baptist Church.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother
and great-great grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker and was the owner
and operator of the Justus Motel and former owner of the Grundy Hotel and
Coffee Shop.
Mrs. Justus was preceded in death by her first husband Burlin Clevinger in
1957 and her second husband James D. Justus in 1999.
She is survived by 1-Son: Jerry and wife Nell Clevinger, Harman, Virginia
Also, survived by 8-Grandchildren: Billy and wife Marshell
Clevinger, Penny and husband Kevin Turner, Natasha and husband Kenneth
Smihula, Tonja Grizzle Shafer, Justin Grizzle, Vanessa and husband Jeff
Looney , Brant Clevinger, and Miranda and husband James Justice, 13-Great
grandchildren and 2- great-great grandchildren and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by 1- Son: Clinton C. Clevinger, 1-
Daughter: Thelma Clevinger Grizzle, 5- Sisters: Louanna Deel, Fannie Yates,
Versie Raines, Rosie Blankenship and Jane Owens and 6- Brothers: Barney Deel,
Shannon Deel, Stewart Deel, Robert Deel, Percy Deel and Alfred Deel.
Funeral Services for
ELSIE DEEL CLEVINGER JUSTUS
will be conducted Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.
at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shea Shrader officiating with
burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Virginia.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Thursday evening at 6
P.M. with services Thursday and Friday evenings at 7 P.M.
Active pallbearers will be Billy Clevinger, Tanner Clevinger, Kevin Turner,
Seth Typer, James Justice, Jeff Looney, Jared Looney, Canaan Looney and
Brant Clevinger.
Honorary pallbearers will be Grandsons and Great-Grandsons.
