EARL D. “DANNY” PHILLIPS, JR., 65 years of age of the Knox Creek Section of Hurley, VA, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013 at his home following an extended illness. Born in Man, WV, he was the son of the late Earl D. Phillips and Helen Meadows Justus. He was a resident of Buchanan County many years and attended Blackey Baptist Church. Mr. Phillips was a member of the Knox Creek Fire Department for many years and assisted with the Knox Creek Kids Day. He was a loving husband and father and was a retired coal miner and member of the United Mine Workers of America.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Fayetta Deel Phillips, May 6, 2009; Step-Father: Lonnie Lee Justus (1981).

He is survived by 1-Son: Rodney Keith Phillips, Hurley, VA, 3-Sisters: Darlene (Roger) Osborne, Hurley, VA, Susie Brown, Cleveland, OH, Marie Ann Stacy, Middleburg, FL

Also, survived by 1-Special Niece: Jessica Osborne Stacy; 1-Special Nephew: Jamie Osborne; and 1-Grand-Niece: Jayma Stacy.

Funeral Services for EARL D. “DANNY” PHILLIPS, JR. will be conducted Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Edgar Blankenship, Jr. officiating with burial to follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Thursday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.
