CURTIS LOONEY, 91 years of age of Bastian, VA, formerly of Buchanan County, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the Pikeville Medical Center following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Parkas “Merkie” and Sylvia Hackney Looney. He was a resident of Buchanan County most of his life and worked in the CCC from 1937-1939. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and was a retired Coal Miner.

Mr. Looney is survived by his wife, Florence America Hackney Looney, Bastian, VA, 3-Daughters: Hazel Byers, Conaway, VA, Virginia and husband Gary Fields, Conaway, VA, Judy Hackney, Kingsport, TN, 4-Sons: Curtis and wife Sherry Looney Jr., Poplar Creek, VA, Roger Lee and wife Dreama Looney, Rural Retreat, VA, Clayton and wife Linda Looney, Conaway, VA, Earl Looney, Bastian, VA, 5-Sisters: Juanita and husband Ernie Clevinger, Bastian, VA, Mary Viers, Prater, VA, Emmajean and husband Herbert Clevinger, Slate Creek, VA, Pauline Stiltner, Conaway, VA, Violet and husband James Clevinger, Prater, VA, 2-Brothers: Irvin Ray and wife Susie Looney, Conaway, VA, Bennett and wife Helen Looney, Mouthcard, KY

Also, survived by 14-Grandchildren, 17-Great-Grandchildren, 1-Great-Great-Grandchild and one on the way, and a host of friends and relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2-Sisters: Ora Ramey and Marie Looney; and 2-brothers: Buster Looney and Virgil Looney.

Funeral Services for CURTIS LOONEY will be conducted Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Earl Dean Yates officiating with burial to follow in the Epling Cemetery, Conaway, VA.

Friends may call at the Bull Creek Old Regular Baptist Church Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M. and at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Saturday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Bobby Byers, John Kennedy, Stratton Mullins, Irvin Ray Looney, Steve Griffey, Brett Ramey and Leon Ramey.
