CONNIE SUE BARNETT, 60 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at her home on Slate Creek  following an extended illness. Born in McAndrews, KY, she was the daughter of Ruth Irene Blackburn Maynard of Grundy, VA and the late Ferrell Maynard. She was a member of Dry Fork Primitive Baptist Church. Connie was employed for 27 years as a purchasing agent for United Coal Company and retired from Buchanan County Social Services after 13 years, where she was an eligibility clerk.  Connie was a loving mother and grandmother  and wonderful homemaker.

She is survived by 2-Sons: Gregory Scott (wife Bonnie) Barnett, Grundy, VA, Christopher William Barnett, Grundy, VA, 2-Grandsons: Thomas Robert Aaron Barnett, Grundy, VA, Brandon Scott Barnett, Grundy, VA, 2-Brothers: Larry Phillip Maynard, Lubbock, TX, Rev. Andy Ferrell (wife Linda Kaye) Maynard, Grundy, VA

Also, she is survived by her cat, Maggie.

Funeral Services for CONNIE SUE BARNETT will be conducted Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Elders Shawn Dotson, Brian Moore, Ked Stacy, and Jeff Dotson officiating with burial to follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Monday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M with Evg. William Neeley and Rev. John Stapleton.

Active Pallbearers will be Daren Compton, Vester Runyon, Keith Boyd, Bill Cook, Denny Coleman and Elmer Stiltner.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray Foster, Vicky Lee, Judy Calhoun, Karen Dales, Denise Ramey, Brad McCoy, John Stapleton, John Ratliff, co-workers at the Buchanan County Department of Social Services, co-workers at the United Coal Company, her church family at the Dry Fork Primitive Baptist Church and their sister churches, her friends at weight watchers, Dr. T. Mark Davis and his staff at the Johnston Memorial Cancer Center, Dr. William T. Cummins, Dr. Clinton Sutherland and Dr. M.V. Pillai and staff.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Connie may be made to the Buchanan County Relay for Life “Dream Team” or the American Cancer Society.
