CLARENCE
“ZEKE” OWENS,
77 years of age of Vansant, VA, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at
his home following an extended illness. Born in Dickenson County, VA, he was
the son of the late James Carson Owens and Edna McFadden Owens Stanley. He
was a resident of Buchanan County most of his life and was of the Protestant
Faith. Zeke served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He
was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was
a Welder and Mechanic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by his Step-Father, Webb Stanley; 1-Grandchild: Ethan Shawn Owens and
1-Brother: James (Carson) Owens.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Baker Owens,
Vansant, VA, 4-Daughters: Rhonda Denise Owens and husband Andy Griffith,
West Jefferson, NC, Pamela Ann and husband Billy McClanahan, Mosheim, TN,
Patricia Lynn Wilson, Corbin, KY, Penny Ruth Stiltner, Richlands, VA,
2-Sons: Clarence Shawn Owens, Vansant, VA, Frederick Bruce Owens, Corbin,
KY, Half-Brother: Max Stanley, Abingdon, VA
Also, survived by 4-Grandchildren: McKenzie Shea
Owens, Logan Shawn Owens, William Anthony Griffith and Philip Andrew
Griffith; several other Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
Funeral Services for
CLARENCE “ZEKE” OWENS will be
conducted Friday, September 14, 2012 at 2:30 P.M. with Rev. Don Ashby
officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big
Rock, VA.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel
Thursday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
Active Pallbearers will be family.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul Hayes, Total Home
Health Care Employees, James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Employees, Charlie
Perkins and Bob Fuller.
Full Military Rites will be conducted at the
cemetery by Members of Childs Gentry Post No. 7360 of the Veterans of
Foreign War.
