CARL PATTON EDWARDS, 75 years of age of Maxie, VA, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013 at his home . Born at Clinchco, Virginia, he was the son of the late Sydney Allen and Thelma Lee Meade Edwards. Patton was a disabled coal miner and a Pentecostal evangelist for over 47 years. He was a member of the Maxie Holiness Church and was truly a man of God, who was known to even preach while working in his garden. Patton loved his family and all of his friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Mack Edwards; his grandson: Jimmy Lee Justice and by his great granddaughter: Destiny Alexandria Edwards.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Stiltner Edwards of Maxie, Virginia and by 1-Daughter: Sandra (Jimmy “Bo”) Justice, Vansant, VA, 3-Sons: Carl Gene (Kathy) Edwards, Maxie, VA, Jeffrey Dean (Maria) Edwards, Maxie, VA, Randy Michael (Susie) Edwards, Maxie, VA, 3-Sisters: Opal Fern Rivers, Hudson, NC, Genola (Bob) Farmer, Springfield, OH, Charlotte (Jackie) Fuller, Richlands, VA, 5-Brothers: Bill (Hazel) Edwards, Phoenix, AZ, Roger (Peggy) Edwards, Lenoir, NC, Jimmie (Joanne) Edwards, Lexington, NC, Harold (Patty) Edwards, Springfield, OH, Jerry Edwards, Richlands, VA

He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services for CARL PATTON EDWARDS will be conducted Thursday, July 4, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Harman Freewill Baptist Church with Revs. Michael Justice, Eddie Wilson, Pim Griffey and Bob Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in Mudlick Cemetery, Maxie, Virginia.

Friends may call at the Harman Freewill Baptist Church Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday and Wednesday.

Active pallbearers will be sons, grandsons and nephews.
