BLANCHE
DUTY MARRS,
87 years of age of Hurley, VA, passed away Friday, October 12, 2012 at the
Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan
County, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Florence Vanover Rakes.
She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of Kelsa
Freewill Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, George Clell Duty; Daughter and Son-in-Law: Audrey
Faye (Ricky) Hale; Son: James Larry Duty; 4-Sisters: Maggie Clevinger,
Mattie Dotson, Edith Dotson and Edna Clevinger; 3-Brothers: George Vanover,
Berlin Vanover and Burton Vanover; Son-in-Law: Emzie Lester, Jr.
She is survived by 6-Daughters: Lillie Ruth
Lester, Hurley, VA, Rachel Clifton, Oakwood, VA, Edith and husband Larry
Estep, Fenton, MI, Stella and husband David Robinson, Richlands, VA,
Sylvetta and husband Danny Jackson, Hurley, VA, Vonda Kay and husband Tony
Marrs, Hurley, VA, 1-Son: Earl Boone and wife Vanessa Duty, Hurley, VA,
1-Sister: Nuvel and husband Bobby Jackson, Hurley, VA, 1-Daughter-in-Law:
Jacqueline Duty, Hurley, VA, Special Niece:
Hattie Hurley, Hurley, VA
Also, survived by 18-Grandchildren and
14-Great-Grandchildren.
Funeral Services for
BLANCHE DUTY MARRS will be
conducted Monday, October 15, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home
Chapel with Revs. Ronnie Hurley, Ervin Hurley and Kenneth Jackson
officiating with burial to follow in the Hurley Cemetery on Mill Creek,
Hurley, VA.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel
Sunday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
Active Pallbearers will be Billy Duty, Donald
Lester, Travis Hurley, Ronnie Vanover, John Justus and Danny Looney.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Tony Marrs, Junior
Vanover and Arlen Vanover.
