BETTY JO MATNEY, 71 years of age of Vansant, VA, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 at her home following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Dink and Easter White Gilbert. She was a member of the Fountain of Life Church, Vansant, VA. She was a devoted military wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a wonderful homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 4-Sisters: Juanita Ramey, Eula Hodge, Evanell White and Jeannie White; and 2-Brothers: Milford Gilbert and Arthur Gilbert.

She is survived by her husband, Ernest “Gene” Matney, Vansant, VA, 2-Daughters: Sherry Jo (Christopher C.) Varney, Cincinnati, OH, Malynda (Eric J.) Belcher, Vansant, VA, 1-Son: Ernest Eugene (Tootsie) Matney, Vansant, VA, 5-Grandchildren: Tisha Villanti, Spring Hill, FL, Sarah Nicole Varney, Cincinnati, OH, Christopher Shawn (Camila) Varney, Cincinnati, OH, Brittan Matney, Vansant, VA, Sophia Belcher, Vansant, VA, 1-Great-Grandson: Michael Villanti, Spring Hill, FL, 1-Sister: Margaret Brozak, Gallipolis, OH

Funeral Services for BETTY JO MATNEY will be conducted Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Fountain of Life Church with Pastors Dale Dotson and Terry Colley officiating with burial to follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.

Friends may call at the Fountain of Life Church Sunday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services Sunday and Monday evenings at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Christopher Varney, Christopher Shawn Varney, Ernest Matney, Jr., Dale Dotson, Dennis Taylor and Eddie Colley.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Eric Belcher and Members of Fountain of Life Church.
