Since launching, Vine has made stars out of your average Joe’s.  The site took off without even having a web site at first.  The platform – which now includes a web page – continues to be one of the most appealing ways to catch my attention when it comes to online video.

Vine may or may not be slowing down in terms of momentum, but it is still a site / an app I tend to frequent regularly.  With that in mind, I wanted to update an article written back in August of 2013 and provide a new perspective on “Brands Winning on Vine”.  The brands mentioned then – specifically Lowes and Oreo – are still “winning” on the platform, albeit not as frequently, as their number of posts have slowed down.

This week’s #SundayMusings focuses on one of the world’s largest sporting events going on right now, the World Cup. There have been a number of brands dedicating a significant portion of budget to ads revolving around the soccer/football tournament. Let’s dive right in!

#1 – World Cup 2014 – The World Cup, lived through the eyes of brands and marketing – via MarketingWorldCup.Tumblr.com 

Premise: A continuously updated branding/marketing blog was created on Tumblr that keeps track of all branding and marketing-related news and stories around the World Cup.

Thoughts: While I can’t stand the Tumblr platform, this feels like a good place to start, no? From YouTube ads/clips to infographics to news on the World Cup’s sponsor (and “fake” sponsor) brands, this page has it all for you. [Read more…]

Welcome to a Super Bowl themed #SundayMusings w/ Shore Branding, the top branding and digital marketing stories from the past week, all of which revolve around today’s Super Bowl here in the US.

#1 – NFL Digital Media Offers Fans the Most Comprehensive Coverage of Super Bowl XLVIII – via NFLCommunications.com 

Premise: The NFL announced their digital plans for Super Bowl XLVIII and it includes the use of NFL.com, SuperBowl.com, a lot of mobile content, and a number of other features – many of which are largely seen or portrayed as being ‘fan-friendly’.

Thoughts: The NFL has slowly but surely transitioned to digital elements over the past handful of years and this year seems to be a heavy turning point towards mobile.  The league’s (very different) partnerships with Verizon and Fox are bringing a whole new viewing experience for the game, as well as providing a ton of content for fans to obsess over leading up to today’s game.

I’m not sure if they have done this in the past, largely because I didn’t have a vested interest in the game like I do this year, but I thought it was a great idea to allow fans to download the official game program to your tablets.  ($1.99 on Google Play) [Read more…]
