Tribute To Buchanan County
And The Coal Miners

Buchanan County Mountains, what do you hold?
Underneath your surface,
Memories that have never been told,
Your trees stand straight and tall,
The miner digs and the Black Coal falls.
Your branches seem to bow in prayer
For all the men working down there.
On this day, all people know,
We remember the miners from long ago.
In their honor and memory, for all to see,
The Coal Miner Statue that will forever be
A reminder to us of the sacrifices made.
In the still of the night,
Working by a dim Coal Miner's light,
These men were special, different from the rest,
Giving their all, giving their best.
Oh Mountain, I seem to hear you say,
Their hopes and dreams were taken away.
Seasons will come, seasons will go,
The sunshine, the rain and then the snow.
We'll bounce back, you bet we will,
With God on our side, how can we fail?
