For our first “Pin of the Month” we might be better served calling it our “Pin O’ the Month” as we will incorporate this weekend’s holiday into our first entry. Moving forward, each month, Shore Branding is going to post one of the better infographics, pictures, etc. from our Pinterest page as a blog entry and (over-) analyze the content of that month’s winning Pin.
With that in mind, let’s dive right into March’s celebratory Pin (below). Will you be enjoying a Guinness this holiday weekend to help celebrate? The infographic itself contains ten facts about Sir Arthur’s pride and joy that you may or may not have already known.
What does this have to do with branding? Well, what brand is synonymous with this weekend’s holiday? Guinness has exponentially grown here in the US over the last decade or so, but has also done a tremendous job of driving growth around the world – just look at numbers 5 and 8 from the infographic specifically. Through increased marketing efforts, stronger focus on its target, and line extensions the brand has recreated and reinvigorated its image and appeal with consumers.
Guinness has taken its association with St. Patrick’s Day into a second, annual celebration in September. Since 2009, the 250th anniversary of Guinness, the brand has turned “Arthur’s Day” into another branding phenomenon. A Google search of “Arthur’s Day” nets almost nine million results. Large cities and millions of people around the world celebrate a completely made up holiday! That is successful branding!
Happy St. Paddy’s Day!
